Café Feminino

In July of 2023, I got to go to Peru and learn all about how coffee is grown. Café Feminino, a group supporting women in coffee farming, invited me to check out their farms. For more than a week, I got to see, pick, and learn all about how Café Feminino does things.

I explored beautiful places in Peru like the Andes and the Amazon valleys. There, I discovered the different kinds of coffee plants – Typica, Bourbon, and Mundo Novo – each making coffee taste special.

With a basket in hand, I joined the expert pickers to choose only the best, ripe coffee cherries. Then, I saw how Café Feminino takes these cherries and turns them into coffee beans through a careful process.

But it wasn't just about the steps; it was about the amazing people. Café Feminino is all about empowering women in coffee, and I got to meet and chat with them. They shared stories about their lives and how Café Feminino is making a positive difference in their communities.

In the middle of the Peruvian sky, I saw a mix of old and new ways of growing coffee. Café Feminino not only follows the traditional methods but also cares about nature and being fair to everyone.

As the week went on, I realized my trip wasn't just about learning – it was a celebration of strong women, making a difference, and the magic that turns coffee cherries into the awesome drink we enjoy. The colorful sunset in Peru matched the incredible experience, and the stories from the coffee fields stayed with me even after I sipped the last bit of coffee.
